Adequate and proper nutrition is an important aspect of a healthy life. Therefore, it is essential to promote an awareness of the nutrients contained in food in relation to their roles in growth and maintenance of the body and disease prevention in humans. It also makes an important contribution to economic progress, as healthy populations are more productive.
We held nutrition awareness programs especially focusing on the public awareness on non-communicable diseases, preventive actions towards diseases and removing the wrong attitudes on the consumption of food and moving the lifestyle towards a healthy path.
The prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancers is increased at an alarming rate in worldwide and in Sri Lanka. Unhealthy diet, and the changes in lifestyle are the major risk factors which are related with NCD s. Unfortunately, the knowledge on prevention and control of NCDs is poor among Sri Lankan working community. Thus we intend to launch a welfare program also to make staff members of any company aware on NCDs and how to prevent from them.
